Aww, that is a shame. He is a rider that I quite admired; you could count on him to throw a spanner in the works at some point during the racing season

I remember when he put the kawasaki motogp bike on the podium in japan for the first time, the crowd went mad! And who could forget that 200 mph tyre faliure at mugello?

His epic 250cc championship battle with Olivier Jaque is one of the greatest rivallries ever. They were the fastest men all season, and at the sachsenring they lapped faster than the 500cc bikes over the weekend.

Brilliant rider, a wonderfull career.
