Hello, I read few days ago in a web about hyosungs, that someone wanted to change de power transmission drive to a belt drive, and he talked about some Venox, a club that decided to change few bikes, that changed the drive, and was not even twice the cost of a normal transmission kit.
The advantages were several, not any more chain lube on the rim, last more, looks great... Has anyone ever tried, made or think about it into a SV? PD: Forgive my poor english. |

As for your question ... i have no idea if any SV has tried this. I hvave never seen one anyway and ive seen a fair few now. I rode a friends Buell once that has a belt drive and thats about as much as i know about them. PS...its PS not PD ![]()

Those pictures, the sun shine... I miss summer. I am so cold now...
![]() Anyway, interesting, but the thread stopped. ![]() I like the idea of low maintenance, but I have one worry. Maintenance is when you notice that little fault and correct it before it becomes a dangerous occurrence. Maybe this is why the thread stopped! ![]() Would the force given out by a standard SV engine really be enough to damage a drive belt? I would love to see the guys research here. Also given (and lets be honest here) that the SV is a relatively cheap bike, some parts are put there because they are cheap and they do wear out. Is an expensive up grade like this worth while in the long term? ![]() This greatly intrigues me, although I am not sure I like the aesthetic of a big rear pulley wheel. I like my little sporty look, it looks great chained up in my garage! ![]() |

Asked about the power that provides the SV engine... I give you the example of the BMW F 800(any model of the series) Bicilyndric on Line, and belt drive. It has 85hp, at lower rpm than the SV so it has lots more of torque. BMW F800s ![]() SV 650 ![]() So I think it's not a fact of power transmitted to the wheel, or to the drive. |
