Default Dropped bike on a roundabout. Mechanics Fault?

right, just back from the mechanic about my battery, he put a new one in and adjusted my chain, which i asked him to do.
He adjusted my clutch cable too even though i didnt ask him to do it. and charged me £140!!
coming home i fell off at a round about, not too fast about 20mph, but it was slippery.
so, can i do anything about it? if i had more clutch control, i would have save it. i know i would have. anything i can do appart from beating him up?

How exactly did the lack of clutch control cause you to come off?

If the clutch was that bad you wouldn't have been able to ride away smoothly from the garage and should have said something straight away.

I'll have to be honest with you here

Its your fault you dropped the bike, not the mechanic's. If you noticed the clutch action was differant, then you should have just taken a bit of extra care I've had a similar experiance, except I havn't dropped it.

As for the £140 charge, I assume that includes the cost of the battery and labour? He may have done your chain and clutch because he noticed it wasnt quite right, and he had the time in what you were paying him to do it (in reality, its 10 minutes work!)

By your own admission, it was slippery. Its also cold, and roundabouts are notorious for being a slick of diesal!

Just take care

I have to agree with ASH.... you dropped your bike because of your fault. Pulling away from the garage you would have been able to tell your clutch engaged sooner than before.

Also if he has invoiced you for adjusting the cluth cable why did you pay it? It was work he did without you asking?

I would say no, but a clucth cable adjustment, battery you can do yourself really easily and chain my garage cahrged me £5 to do that.

I would be having words about the price mate.

Ok so when you pull the clutch leaver do you have to pull it more or less than before... as you can see from above I'm confussed.

Also... any damage to your bike?

So you're new to biking, knew the clutch had been adjusted but failed to adjust your riding accordingly, binning your bike as a result but its not your fault?

I don't think youre going to get very far with this one.
