Default Battery and cold weather

The battery was fully charged last wknd when I checked, but was flat this morning when I tried to start up my SV (its hasn't been riden for 5 days)

My SV is parked out in the street and covered, the battery is only three months old.

Can the cold weather weaken the battery that much in a week

usually the cold breaks older batteries, one that is only 3 months old would make me think that perhaps something else is up...

My battery is over a year old. It was a cheap replacement. I charged it indoors on a charger 2 weeks ago, as it was totally dead cos the bike hadn't been ridden for a long time.

The bike was ridden last Monday to its MOT, and back - about 4 miles.

It still started well last night when I went to pull the baffle out. The bike is kept under a cover outside, and I only started it up to warm the exhaust as the baffle was stuck solid, and there was even frozen drips of water stuck to the exhaust (guess my cover must leak a bit )

Ok I've waffled a bit - my point is that a healthy battery & charging system shouldn't go dead after a 5 day lay-up, so there is definitely a problem somewhere.

edit: my bike is also fitted with an alarm - Datatool System 3.

Do you mean you charged it? Or that it was putting out the correct voltage?

Might be worth getting a Amp meter, then take the negative battery terminal off and measure the losses from negative terminal to negative wire. If that's over about 0.1A then you have issues.

I assume this means with the ignition off? To test if there's any current drain when there shouldn't be?
