My race bike has no V5. How do I go about getting one? Anyone been through the re-registration process?
Cheers, Carl |

It is not a reregistering. you simply apply for the v5
Edit, use form V62, available from a post office or download

Cheers Tim,
I'm not actually sure this bike ever had a V5. Its history includes first being used at Jamie Whitam's race school. Can you apply for a V5 just from its ngine/frame number? C |

Write to the DVLA giving them the engine and frame number and ask if the bike is already registered. You could include your explanation that the bike has been used only for racing since whenever you got it and what history you do have, which should head off any issues over it not having been sorned... They may help you out and come back with the registration number, if so then it's simply a case of applying for a V5, provided it's not shown as a cat B write off in which case they won't let you register it with that frame.
If the bike has never been registered then you need to apply for a first registration. Unless you can prove what year it was originally manufactured I think you'll get stuck with a Q reg. |

But you can write to Suzuki and they should provide you with a letter stating the age of the bike If you do need to register it you'll also need to find the European Whole Vehicle Type Approval number or they'll make to go through an SVA test - Suzuki should be able to provide details of this as well

Carl, if you can get the frame/engine number it may be worth ringing suzuki. I know some bikes that are bought brand new are bought as race bikes with no v5 and just reciepts. In which case it will be registering from scratch as above.
What do you need the v5 for? are you aiming to get it on the road? |
