Default "I'm reading..."

What book are you reading at the moment?

I'm reading "stealing speed" by Mat Oxley, a brilliant and true stroy of the most important developments in 2-stroke technology and their success in gp's, the tale of Kaadan's east-germany born MZ and its triumphs over the richer, better funded MV Agusta and Honda rivals; the rise of Suzuki, and the entanglement of GP racing in the 50's and 60's with the communist east german goverment.

I really really love this story, and how amidst all the politics of a post-WWII / cold war era world, that for some motorcycle racing was the ONLY important thing in the world above all else, and worth risking lives and livleyhoods for.

I reccomend it, even if you are not into motorcycle racing as such. I've learn't alot about the east/west germany divide - what a terible place it must have been, to live in east germany, in al that fear of the stazi and not knowing who you can talk to in all confidence with

Another great book I read over the new year was the Honda V-fource one written by julian ryder, documenting the development of honda V4 motorcycles - and oval piston technology

niiiceee

so i ask again, what are you reading, and why has it gripped you?

Just finished Twilight by Stephanie Meyer, soon to start the next one in the series, New Moon. Thought the first half of Twilight was a tad wishywashy for me, an easy read but too much romance and not enough action, but it greatly improved in the last half thankfully. Having got the first 3 after them being highly recommended to me I want my money's worth!

I've got two on the go at the minute.

"Warrior of Rome" by Harry Sidebottom. It's basically an historical novel about some guy who has rose up through the ranks to lead a legion and is now on the outskirts of the roman empire and faces an enemy horde.

Second one is for when I only want to read for 5-15mins. It is called "The World According to Clarkson". Some quite witty stories to read; obviously only funny to a cynical type of person though!

I usually read books about the templars or christian crusades, as well as Terry Pratchett.

They should have stayed as books, they have ruined vampire films for ever.
