Default Brakes.. General Help/Advice Needed!

SV650S K5
12.3K miles
No lowers, slip on can, hugger and different screen only changes made.
Bike is used every day usually, and lives outside.

Right.

This has only been happening recently, say this year.

1. Front brakes are making a squeeling noise when not being applied.
2. Make the same noise when the brakes are applied, no difference to noise when not in use.

Both only noticeable at lower speed when I can hear them, and it seems the bike is harder to push, feels like the brakes are dragging?

3. Serious decrease in braking power of front and rear brakes(rear has never been great).
4. Brakes have never been serviced, never bled, only taken off to check pad thickness.

So my questions...

Are the pads glazed over? Or do they just need serviced?
How often should you service brakes?
How often should the brake system be bled?
Pads need changed soon, is OEM recommended? Or EBC or something different? They don't need to be race pads, has no problems with the OEm ones, anything better and similiar priced?

Thanks for you're help, David.

I service about once a year, although I've also been known to do 14k+/year.
Bleed every 2 years but if you pull the pistons out once a year then do it at the same time.
I used to recommend OEM but Suzuki have gone crazy with their prices, what I don't have is a recommendation otherwise for road use.

Ah, you see I presumed otherwise from the 12.3k for a 4-5 year old bike.

I've used Goldfren HH sintered pads bought off ebay and found them better than oem pads. Have only used EBC GG organics in the gsxr calipers on mine, and seem fine to me, although the friction material fell off the EBC's on the rear caliper but I hardly use the rear brake so they've been on there a long time.

Yeh sounds like they need a good clean. It's quite easy, just takes a while. I've just serviced mine. New seals, pads and soon to get new discs. Not cheap but definitely worth it
