Need a little help. I need some music to exercise to, now I'm on the turbo trainer pedalling away. My natural cadence ( number of times I turn the pedals in a minute ) is 75 to 80, I am working bringing this up to the 85 mark, the faster I spin the better and it'll give me a better CV workout.
My normal tactic is to set the bike up in front of the TV and catch up on the sky+ queue of programs waiting to be watched or just watch a DVD. I found tonight music is a little more motivating so I'm after something that fits in with the number of times I'm turning the pedals. So far these tracks work with what I am doing. i.e they fit in with the pedal rhythm I have got going. Moby - Go Orbital - Impact Paul van Dyk featuring Vega 4 - Time of our Lives Ideally I want to make a mix up to cover off work minutes of exercise 2 x 20 minute flat out intervals. I tend to like electronica rather than dance, anything charty is a no no. I also like what Liz refers to as "dirge" ( Think guitar based indie stuff ) So recommend me a song or two...

Armen van buren is my music of choice when on the TT.
Anything with a quick beat as you subconciously get into rythm with it. |

A few from my 'gym' playlist:
Foo Fighters - Pretender Chemical Brothers - Golden Path/Out of control New Order - Confusion (Pump Panel reconstruction mix) Stereophonics - Bartender and the thief Not sure how they will fit with your cadence - if I am spinning whilst listening to these I am usually around 90 per minute, however tend to focus on keeping the pedalling smooth and consistent rather than trying to match cadence to bpm ![]()

Hmm, i just used to listen to Hed kandi type stuff, or if i was in a mental state and wanted to kill myself on the cross trainer, Prodigy/Old Skool hardcore/NRG. The later runs at about 150-160bpm, so if you aim for a down stroke every second bar then thats your 75-80 cpm. Might not be your kind of music but it does work.
I've also got an Arlane Philips Workout album somewhere, the Keep In Shape System i think it was called. Now wheres my Sweatband! Last edited by Viney; 09-02-10 at 08:21 AM. |
