Default BA to use waste for fuel

Full Story:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8515620.stm

Here's a nice idea then from BA; to use our waste, to generate fuel for its aircraft, using the Fischer Tropsch process ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fischer-Tropsch ). They say it would provide more than enough fuel for its planes operating out of london airport, which is quite a good thing

To cover fuel for all BA flights from London City would take very little fuel; I think the only flying they do for themselves are the exec Airbus services to the USA via Shannon. If they mean all flying in the BA colourscheme it's quite a bit more I think the point to notice is that it will provide about 2% of the fuel for Heathrow; it is just a drop in the ocean. Many airlines have run flights on biofuel as part of the certification program and I believe that by the time this plant comes on line the fuel will be certified for use on public transport flights.

Yes, it should keep the carbon-footprint hounds at bay for a little while.
