Ok, I understand there is a legal requirement to ensure a company only employs people entitled to work in the UK. but after 25 years with the same employer I now need to prove to them by way of documentation my entitlement to work in the UK.
Madness. The government has told them for the last 25 years what to tax me. They pay for my passport, even send one of their runners to collect it from the passport office and embassies for work visa in China. Madness if I didn't have a passport they would require an id card or birth certificate with backup documentation from the government that confirmed my national insurance number. I ask you. Why should I need to prove I am English. surely it is up to anyone with a concern to prove I am not English Ah now realised it is a government con to force any without passports to buy a worthless id card that will be scrapped in 5 months time

yes its a con to get people to either renew/get a passport or ID card. this is because the government want everyone in the uk on their DNA registrar so they can sell the information to insurance companies etc.etc.
tell them to go do one. |

Everbody in our company (and many others) has had to do this. It's ass-covering.

But yeah, Tim, I do think that is a bit ridiculous that they want you to "prove" you are entitled to work in the UK. I had to prove it when I joined the dark side, N.I card, Swansea issued D/L and birth cert not good enough, passport had to be seen. |

The government sell lots of data to third parties such as insurance companies.
