Default Not Happy....

Me and the misses are moving out of our apartment this sunday, back into her parents for a year while we save a deposit for our own house,

I just called my Insurance to change the address, im only moving round the corner literally around the corner, the bike is in a secure garage at the moment and but at the new address it will be on private property but not garaged,

I have got 3 months left on the policy and they have just told me that they cant cover me third party fire and theft at this new address and will only cover me third party !!!

the only over option I have is to end the agreement early and get a new quote.

I Paid in full and they said I wont be entitled to any money back !!

the insurers are Express ...... I Dont know what to do !!

as I can't afford to start up a new policy yet but I want my bike covered for theft .

not at all happy.

Bloody hell mate, which bit of Salford? £900 TPFT WOW.

What the chance of you being able to fit a ground/wall anchor at your parents house?

3 months to get your year no claim, you need to think about it, for example.

What kind of house is it?
Can you get the bike around the back?
Can you fit the ground/wall anchor?
Can you block the drive/path/guinnel going arount to the back of the house.

Because if for example it's the type of attached house with a guinnel between the two and you can fit your bike down it then can you block/lock the gate going in to your garden at the back?
If it's a semi how do you get around the back, is there a little walkway going around the side of the house or a full width drive? Can you block this passage with a car and would it be always be blocked at night?

How safe would you feel about it being there?

I'm with you mate about the theft part, I've never had anything other than fully comp for the 'just in case' cover..

Good luck

Ring back and ask if they'd like your custom next year.
Chances are you can take the drop to TP for 3months and nothing'll go wrong (chain it up well!) but it's still not right

I have to keep my bike around my back garden, and have to get it in via an entry and gate, so i told the insurance company, and follow, put a disk lock on, chain (ground anchor of possible) and explained that the gate and entry was secure, and it worked out about £50 more than havin it garaged.
But this is a bit ridiculus IMO. I hope you get it sorted ASAP and it dont cost you to much.

Swinton mate, yeah it was £867 FPTF at 20 years old with one claim for total loss (theft) and an SP30 (3 points).

Its a semi, there is side gate where the bike will go into the back garden and the car will block the exit.
I got an Almax chain and I will fit a ground anchor it pretty much theft proof at parents but at work its an open car park and I can't see the bike from my office.
which I don't feel comfortable about at the moment never mind having no insurance.
I only have a disk lock alarm for work as there is nothing to chain it too.

Quite a lot I think at $600 easy.

I would call them back and ask to the the on duty manager in that case, also if no joy try the insurance ombusman worth a shot.

Swinton isn't that rough is it, I don't remember it being that bad, is it not a reasonable distance from Salford its self? The town centre used to be delightful.
