Hi huys not sure if i am posting in the right place but thought i would say hi My name is Ian im 27 and live in Swansea i currently have a ducati 998 but will be selling it soon to help with a house purchace damn will break my heart to see it go but needs must hey. I am looking for a sv 650 to replace well i say replace but nothing can realy replace the duke i am looking for a sv to play on when the sun comes out as i hate not having a bike and i dont think i could go back to a il4 after having a twin and a sv will cost me pennies to insure and run so looks like it is the bike of choice so im sure as and when i buy one i will be bugging you all with many questions lol
First questin then lol What do i need to look at when buying one probably going to be a curvy as i want to keep as much money as possible back have they got any issues or common problems to look out for? Thanks in advance for any help guys its much appreciated. Ian |

first welcome mate
as for your question about the sv curvy, tbh they are pretty bomb proof, only main issues are reg rec failure and carp in front spark plug ,both easily fixed for pennies or easy maintanace, after that its just the usual if its been looked after etc ,many sv's have done well over 100,000 miles and are still going strong, also buying one of here would also give you a bit moe insite into the past history of the bike ,we are a very friendly and genuine lot (no im not selling one lol) enjoy |

ok not until September!! Curvies have problems just as much as the next bike. Good thing about mine is I have a Yorkie Chris to keep mine tip top, and me to shine them shiny ![]() Theres plenty of threads in the SV tuning and tweaking sections up top of main page to keep you amused. Hello BTW.

Cheers guys nice to meet you.
I also notice when looking around at the sv's i kknow there is a naked and a s version and they appear to have different handlebars how easy is it to change between the 2 reason being i would quite like the naked but also get a set of trackday bodywork and do the odd trackday but would obviously prefer like the clip on bars for that? |

If you are used to a duke, the reliability of the SV will be a god send. You shouldn't see many problems as long as its serviced when it should be.
As for fitting clip ons to a naked, I looked into doing it on mine and found that it should be an easy task, most likely on requiring the indicators to be flipped/removed. Not a problem if your taking it to a track. In the end, I decided against it as i prefer the wide bars both on the road and on the track |

Welcome to the forum mate. as other have said, the SV is pretty reliable. Just go for one with good history and you'll not go too far wrong. It will feel a bit agricultural compared to the Duke mind...
