Hi,
Been a while since I've been on here after an autumn crash and a long cold winter. I've been shopping for parts on ebay and contacted a seller who says they have a rad for a faired pointy. Mines naked but the seller reckons they're basically the same bar the guards on the sides. Has anyone fitted a faired rad to a naked bike? Cheers, Jonny. PS. just fitted a scorpion street extreme today, along with black renthals, levers and bar end mirrors. Looks great, can't wait to get back on the road! |

Nakid radiators are as rare as hens teeth. Faired ones are slightly more available. I would presume a pointy one is very much the same as a curvy one, as far as fitting a faired version to a nakid bike is concerned.
Pointy/curvy rads aren't compatible though AFAIK. Its a fairly common thing to do. They just have the lug mounts for a fairing and obviously no mount for the steel end pieces.

Right, great. I'll have a good look at the pics once he lists and see about the price. Don't want to wait around too long, getting the itch big time with these sunny days kicking in.

Just bear in mind that breakers are a cunch of bunts who lie through their teeth about condition. A breakers 'good' condition is 'bent' to any normal person.
Sure they'll typically refund you but you'll be out of pocket ~£20 as they'll insist on it being returned first. Can anyone tell I'm not in a good mood with breakers today? This is because the 'not leaking good rad' I purchased and turned up today turned out to have suffered a major side impact[1] forcing in the cap and meaning it doesn't seal? Druid [1] There is a crease in the side 'pod' of it, a dent just below the cap and the cap/outlet now sits squffy, way more than postal damage[2]. [2] Although having seen how they treat parcels I'm amazed anything gets to its destination intact!

Ahhh, tell me about it. I bought a rad a month ago, listed as 04 model in good condition. I snapped it up in a hurry on my lunch break at work. Arrived a couple of days later and I realised it was from a curvy. I returned it and it was listed again as 99-02 before I even got my refund.
I bought a headlight bowl from the seller with this rad I mentioned today and I've just realised now by looking at their other items that it's from a curvy! Totally my mistake this time, just assumed it was from a pointy because it didn't say otherwise, pretty silly of me. From looking at the pics though, it seems a bit different in shape but the fittings themselves look exactly the same, so I'll take a risk and relist it if it doesn't fit (though probably at a loss). I always seem to learn the hard way with ebay. The search for a radiator goes on, likewise for a front master cylinder clamp. The price for the clamp only on parts websites is stupid ![]() Rant over! On a positive, now that I've fitted handlebars that aren't bent out of shape, I managed to ride from one end of the back yard to the other, first riding in about 4 months haha. Shame it was at about 5mph. |

Hi, you don't say what year your pointy is. I did a check on Alphasport on a K7 and they appear the same for faired and un-faired. On the curvy the fairings clip into the rad and cover some of it, so a different one is required for the naked that doesn't have the clip-holes and fittings for the extra trim instead. On the pointy, the headlight fairing doesn't cover the rad so a trim fitting is required anyway. FD I've got my rad off of my old curvy. Straight.
Alphasports microfiche showing it's for an S and non S model ,K5 to K7 at least ![]() Last edited by petevtwin650; 20-03-10 at 09:49 PM. |

![]() But if the OP is anything like you and I...they'd prefer the correct one. But a rarity these days to find a nakid rad in good nick. Would a curvy rad work for a pointy though Pete?

Cheers Dizzy, yeah that's the one I'm after. I could only find it on a european of american site, for around 30 quid with shipping. So the clamp from a k1 bandit would fit?
