I am currently with carol nash and paid £455 fully comp last year.
Last night I received my renewal, with another years ncd with the same underwriter ERS... £450 for the year with £450 excess! I rang them up to make sure they didn't auto renew and they obviously started haggling. The cheapest quote I had was from the bike insurer with bikenet for £260. I told them this and they went away. 10 minute later they're back offering £440 ![]() I politely turned down the offer. She then ask what I would be willing to pay 'today right now' to which i kept quite and asked what they were willing to offer if I paid now. 5 minutes later shes offering £350. Still not good enough as I had £300 in mind. This time she went away for a good 20 minutes and came back with an offer of £320 with £200 excess fully comp, breakdown/recovery etc. The underwriter is themselves not some random company. Woop snapped her hand off. Carol Nash are great and get my recommendation again. Yes they were not as cheap as £260, but the excess is smaller, you get recovery and breakdown... And most importantly you can ring up and instantly speak to an English speaking person.

I'm dreading the renewal with CN this year. Last year I wasn't overly impressed with how little I got them down to, but with five years no claims this time, you'd have thought it would be peanuts fer an old bird!
Maybe they'll be nice if I tell them they are parked up for the majority of the year, and will be doing about 1000 miles between them ![]()

Age hasn't got anything to do with Carole Nash. My last renewal with them (first full year on the SV) was around £50 higher than the previous year (on an NTV). This with max no claims (in reality 12 years although they only count to 9), 3 points and 35 years on the age meter, and a customer of many years standing.
Went throught the bike insure and ended up with £80 fully comp - the nice English speaking person at CN almost swallowed his headset when I told him the price difference. It's not just bike insurance either - we've just had the renewal for our buildings and contents and they want around £100 more than anyone else (for less cover)

It is for sure just insurance in general. Pegs insurance with the ZZR was not impressive this year compared to last either, but like I said to him, CN had said last year that every company was struggling to give decent prices, the excuse was the credit crunch. If you can find a good quote somewhere else thats great, but what benefits are you losing if you swap. CN give a great package and haven;t had any gripes from me because of naff service, but I am reluctant to go elsewhere, because of other peoples disappointments with so many companies!
