best option if you want the certifficate etc.. go to your local dealer, they should restrict it with genuine sliders for £134 fitted.. includes a certifficate aswell... its far cheaper than paying £170 or f.i international ones.. or if any kind person on her will give you some then they should fit them for about £40 but you dont get a certifficate.

Prob a silly question but o well... if someone gave me one and got it fitted, and for some reason i get pulled over and asked to produce a certificate.. what happens then?

Sorry, I believe this is incorrect. If it isn't restricted you're breaking the law.

I spent many hours researching this before restricting my bike. There is no legal requirement to have a certificate. The certificate was merely a means to prove the bike had been restricted. What's to stop you de-restricting it? Riding it without restriction, would mean you the rider would be riding outside the entitlements of their license, that would be illegal, which would also invalidate your insurance policy.

The law requires you to not drive, ride or operate a vehicle that your license does not entitle you to - it's that simple. There's never been a legal requirement for a certificate.

There are other considerations you should take in to account though - if you ride with a race can or aftermarket can with baffle removed, a dark tint, mirrored or iridium visor close to lighting up time, and above all, ride like a to55er, you are likely to attract unwanted attention from the boys in blue. Having said that, I ride around the peaks with a dark visor and aftermaket can and have never been stopped.

If the police thought they had good reason, they could impound your vehicle for testing. The only clarification I could not acquire way on the legality of where the power output could be tested - as many believe it should be 33bhp at the rear wheel, however I have also been advised that the crank output is where it should be measured.

To the best of my knowledge, your insurance company needs to be made aware (as it is a modification to performance, even though it is to retard, not enhance) however, it's unlikely the premium would be lower, therefore unlikely for premium to go up when you reach the exciting two years passed point.

For the curvy, it's carb washers, and quite easy to do. I had mine machined by a local engineer and while it was a whopping £15.00 for two washers, fitted for free by me, it was a damn sight cheaper than the £200-£300 quotes I'd had. I haven't obtained a dyno print out, as in my opinion it's not worth damaging my tyres, so don't actually know the exact output of my bike.

I also considered the ebay certificate thing, but decided that would be fraudulent.

The information above is provided from research I have carried out myself, and a based on my own opinions and beliefs. I will not be held responsible if you restrict your own bike and fall foul of the law. I do believe that offering to lift the carbs to show the washers would be enough to satisfy.

Having said all that, I can happily pass you technical dimensions of the FI washers, the accuracy of which, I cannot confirm, as I obtained the dimensions from another forum user, to have mine made.
