split link? or ask in a dealer for them to do it they will only charge a few quid, try quarry bank motorcycles or westmidlands motorcycles centre there useful for being able to do stuff like that.

feel cheeky doing it myself outside a bike shop then asking them to only rivet it, but thats an option.

beabert swap the chain and sprocket for a new one at home fit a spilt link and if you feel its necessary to rivet it at local stealership.

Oh i see, yes good idea.

I take it i can order a spilt link section to join it temporarily? ie i can not fit a split link plate onto the existing rivet ends in the pack?

Only replaced a 125 chain before, i dont see why a split link would not be sufficient, as the force is applied in the opposite direction. However, ppl online moan they come off on bigger bikes, so best only as a temporary solution.

thanks zombers your 55 miles away, depending on how much the garage charge i may just take you up on the offer yet

Now where can i get a split link from lol. edit( they both come in the set, marvellous)

im running with a spilt link atm i was told at my dealer it will last as long as an average chain does so not to worry about that, i did 500 miles on my last chain with a split link before i destroyed the rest of the chain and still couldnt remove the link again.
