Default SV1000 front end rebuild.

As some of you know and most probably don't (or even care) I dumped my SV1000S 1st April (no joke, alas...)

I am going to rebuild her, but, should I go back to stock or use GSXR 600/750 or 1000 parts?

Anyway, I have done a quick comparison using information got from flea-bay.

The comparison is;

a GSXR 600/750 K6/K7 front end (Bottom yoke, Forks, Front wheel, Brake discs, Callipers, Brake lines, Clip ons, Master cylinder)
a GSXR 1000 K4 front end (Bottom & Top yoke, Forks, Front wheel, Brake discs, Callipers, Brake lines, Clip ons, Master cylinder)
and
a stock SV1000S front end (Bottom yoke, Forks, Front wheel, Brake discs, Brake lines, Master cylinder.)

Costs came to about £850 for 600/750 (couldn't find cost of a front wheel or top yoke), £950 for 1000 (no front wheel price either...) and £922 for SV (even with less bits to buy!)

So, what do I do? Black and gold USD's with blue adjusters, Gold USD's with red adjusters or back to stock SV?

Some gsxr models use the same calipers as your sv1000 calipers, yours being the same as gsxr600/750k1-k3 and they also fit gsxr1000 k1-2 forks (even though they use 6 pot as standard) so that would lessen the cost for brake calipers and lines (unsure about discs) if you went that route. Not too sure if your wheel would fit though.

Edit; looking at your avatar I presume your wheel, discs and m/c are probably fubared anyway.

i recommend that you dont go for the k4 1000 front end, its a great bit of kit but i just found it bloody hard to get hold of the bits, if you can source the whole front end then great but if you did what i did and bought the parts separately then its a bugger.
i think the easiest to source parts and maybe one of the cheapest usd radial mount front ends to get are the k4/5 600/750 ones

Well, I have found a guy selling the top and bottom yoke along with the stem and forks from a K4 GSXR 1000 all in one, so, finding the bits are not an issue (except the front wheel.) I just prefer the look of the black forks over the gold forks, but, is there much difference in actual performance, afterall I do want the forks to work! @Rowdy: My front wheel, discs and forks are all warped, I also knackered my bottom yoke and the master cylinder, hense pricing up the GSXR fronts

I'd use the 600/750 ones by preference as they're showa internals

What internals have GSXR 1000 forks got then? I am not limiting myself to K4 forks, they just seem most common

Try that. Although seller doesn't state if everything pictured is included in the auction.

Edit: looking at the sellers other items for sale it doesn't look like the wheel is included.

Are GSXR 1000 K4 forks that bad? I have found a guy selling the forks with the top and bottom yokes with them, so, seems like a good deal to me then buying the forks and yokes seperate like I'd have to if I got 600/750 forks so far on flea bay

Nope not that bad that they won't work or anything like that, just if you wanted to tune them further the 600/750 ones are a better start. They'll work ok.
