Default Advice on fitting my new exhaust?

Hi there,

I recently bought this exhaust:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I am wanting to fit it this week. With it having a link pipe, does it mean I have to cut the exhaust further down as opposed to usual 50mm from the can?

Also, am I right in thinking it's a good idea to put a jubilee clip on any joins in the pipe/can?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers,

Toby

YOu usualy cut 50mm from the weld near the riders foot peg, not near the can. I also think you will be a lot better off with proper exhaust clamps rather than jubilee clips as they will go rusty in no time and don't tighten enough to realy be effective.

so should cutting where you have just said work ok with the link pipe I have?

I appreciate it's not too clear from the pic how long the link pipe is, but any help is much appreciated

Best thing is to offer it up when its all infront of you, or call Arrow and ask them.
When you've decided where to cut wrap tape around the pipe to give you a good mark and to help protect the pipe if you slip with the saw.
Some SVs have the Cat exactly where you'll be cuting so wach for that as well.
Also make sure you have spair blades because you'll probably break one.

Thanks mate, is there an easy way to spot where the cat is?

I think the fairly late ones have the cat there, if it's a curvey you don't need to worry as they don't have cats.
I don't know exactly when they started fitting them but if it is fuel injected then it's worth checking.

Toby, If you look on the images section, will take a bit of time but you should be able to spot a bike with a similar if not the same exhaust can and link pipe. It should then give you an idea where to cut using the information given by shifter already.
The clamps you should use are "stainless exhaust clamps" loads listed on ebay.
Hope this helps.

You can see the end of that link pipe, its at about 7'0'clock from the footpegs then the link pipe takes it up to the can. Not the same can as yours but the principle is the same.
