Red face What's this tank prop for?

Balls!

From under the pillion seat of my SV650 SK8 I've removed a ~12" long piece of round rod shaped metal, loop at one end, slight bend at the other.

Anyone know what it is and what it does?

I can post some pics if needed.

Rather worried I've done something serious...

It's a tank prop.

The previous owner of mine had removed it and the bike still worked fine. Rest assured!

Safely back under the seat, but I can't see where it needs to clip to.

It's not a tank prop, it's a "rusty trombone"

You got a K3? I didn't have a clip either. Which is why my tank prop lives in the garage

SK8, I can't see anything under the seat resembling a clip.

The previous owner installed a Scott oiler and a tail tidy so some things may have been removed for those
