Default Bike dropped all it's oil.

bike just spat it's oil all down the motorway, 3o mins waiting for tow-truck.

really wasn't expecting that...........

s'pose i'll try and take the engine out and from there see if it's easiest to source an engine or fix mine.

well, we'll see....

apart from loosing the sump bolt the only other ways for a SV engine to loose lots of oil is a broken oil rad pipe (if pointy) or aparently if the front sprocket bolt is loose it will spil oil too or then the obvious things like the clutch cover comming off or oil pressure switch braking off

tsm -
thanks for the speedy reply
- not the sump plug - i had a quick look under whilst waiting on the 'hard shoulder'
-don't think it's the oil rad pipe (it is a pointy 2003)
- so tomorrow will investigate - front sprocket bolt (i've just adjusted the chain..) and oil pressure switch. Don't think the clutch cover has 'come off'

(im sad)

You'd notice if the clutch cover had come off. Like, a massive bit missing from the side of the engine!

TSM - seems you were right!

looking much better than yesterday (thought i needed a new engine!)

any tips on removing the old one - just screwdriver the thing out? then just push tje new one in place? hope it's that easy!

p.s is there any chance of a leak from 15 - ?

You might want to put new oil in before you ride away
