Default Cant get neutral when bike is warm

Clutch drags only when bike is warm. Cant get neutral when engin is running. No problem when engin is stoped. Any ideas?

Common problem, you can try all the usual things first, like oil level and clutch adjustment but from my experience only changing the friction plates to ebc ck3377 ones totally got rid of it.

Three of us had the same problem recently, we all changed clutch plates to solve it.

Too much oil can make neutral hard to find. Have you topped it up lately?

not too clued up on the SV but from the above replies i presume they are a hydraulic clutch.
warped plates, oil too thick, cable ajustment, worm ajustment are the only causes.

650s are a cable clutch. 1000s are hydraulic.

Really appreciate your comments. I have done all the usual. Changed the oil (twice!) got semi synthetic in now. Ive adjusted it every which way. I think I was hoping I wouldt have to change the clutch. Is it expensive? I presume its not too difficult. Do I need any special tools? I have changed clutches before but not on SV.

Thanks again

Tony

Take the front plastic cover off the frint sprocket and clear the built up crap from behind it, and make sure your chain is properly lubed and adjusted.

No need to do the drastic route until you have done all the basic checks, surprised no one has suggested the above to you.
I have this problem occasionally.....on both SVs, neither have had a clutch plate swap in their life!

Before doing anything else, adjust the clutch, not just the cable.

Replacing the clutch plates is a bit of a leap as a first try as a fix.

Make sure you rule everything else out first.

Most likely just the friction plates are needed but make sure the steel plates are flat, £40 of ebay, and £5 for black gasket maker from halfrds. No need to drop the oil, when on the sidestand the oil wont leak with the cover off.(curvy) Takes 20 minutes.

You need a torque wrench that measures as low as 5.5ftlb I guessed using a 10flb one lol.

The clutch can be very harsh straight after, needs a few miles to sort its self out. Its made an amazing difference to my bike.
