Default Roundabout shunt in me car.

Here is the story. Driving my own car.

First in queue at roundabout...minding me own business...

And then wallop...giving an old fashioned wallop in the rear.

What to do...damage to me seems very limited...slow speed crumple...

Women in Pug saying she wants to fix damage on the quiet but seems not to favour me...should i go for the insurance or what?

damage is unknown but a bracket which holds the bumper to the fuel tank is twisted and funny angle....u wouldnt know i have been hit but your advice would be good.

Insurance all the way. Damage might not look bad, but if you settle outside insurance and later find out that something more major has been damaged, you will be stuck with the bill and in the meantime be driving around in a potentially unsafe car.

If she's uninsured, then the police will know and she'll be dealt with, meaning one less uninsured driver on the road!

Go to a garage and get a quote then give it to her. If she doesn't pay up phone the insurance

She is insured and all so she is all good.

But your main point is the point.

That is the way I see it too.

Playing nice is not always best policy.

Bear in mind that it will affect your insurance premium the next time you take out a policy even though you are 100% not at fault!!!

I would get it looked at get a quote to repair it (somewhere expensive) then bump 50 quid on top for your troubles and do a cash deal.

Playing polite is good, always.
Playing by the book is right...and what you need to do in pretty much any accident IMO.

My worry is getting a bill at the end of the line...and then she doesnt want to know. I am nice...always...but the car is a large investment of money and i need to know its tip top as i plan to sell pretty soon.

Hence going through insurance. You always have comeback that way. It might affect your insurance, but then again...it might not. If you agree to let her pay and she decides later not to bother or to ignore you, the police will be left with a difficult job getting it sorted.

What the hell kinda car is it that the bumper is bolted to the fuel tank ! ?

Either way, if you do go outwith the insurance, i`d get it estimated and tell the other party asap, like, tomorrow, and get paid sharpish before she can change her mind, otherwise, as someone else said, if you leave it too long the police won`t be able to do much.

Mind you, if you have her details you could still tell your insurance, did you get pictures of the accident ?

I got her details.

I have spoken to a few sages and insurance is my only option.

Coz if she does a runner then I will be up a certain creek without a paddle.

And I thought life was hard enough already.
