Default Speechless! And well sad

Daughter no.3, who is built both physically and mentally like my ex-wife, rang me last week and invited me to her uni graduation. Today she rang me and said she's changed her mind... Eh? What have I done since last Thursday?

Apparently I'm horrible, self centred, selfish, and hugely unsupportive. It went on a lot longer than that and included an awful lot of stuff that could have only come from my brainwashing ex-wife.

I have my faults, and flaws without a doubt. And on occasion if its my time I can be selfish with it but...

Yours,

Devastated (hugely) .

Can't remember the last time I felt so gutted.

Bri, that's awful news mate, any way you can talk to her before the day and try to discover this turn around. Apart from anything else trying to find out why might open the lines of comunication again and make your daughter realise that you do care, are not being selfish and just want to be there to support her on that special day.

Hope it gets sorted. Positive thoughts to you mate.

When I went to my daughter graduation, I was the proudest man alive.

I feel for you. You are her dad. For good times and bad. Nobody should be able to deny you that.

My parent split when I was young. But at my sisters wedding the buzz ran down the church, John (my uninvited dad) is here. I moved down an aisle and sat next to my mother. what are you doing here. Making sure you stay put. Afterwards my sister said thanks to him. They had not seen each other for 15 years thanks to my mum.

Try and talk to her. As she get older and more worldly wise she may realise jut how lucky she is to have two parents.

Do what you can to talk to her and get there Bri, but if it doesn't work, go anyway and watch from afar. Maybe not even let her know you're there. Either way, send her a graduation gift and card and tell her how proud you are.

She'll step out of her mums shadow one day and see things for herself.

Until then, big hugs to you. BIG BIG hugs xxx

Its ticket only.

She will get a pressie, and a card.

Its not that long ago I paid for a field trip, and a new laptop and and and.

At D2's grad last year I paid for the meal for everyone, including the ex.

I'm no saint but this has really floored me.

+1 on this Bri, hopefully she'll recall who paid for the laptop & fieldtrips
and realise how important your contribution was to her life.
