Hello All.
Right straight to the point my speado, last year it stopped working constant 0mph readout, not a big deal. Then it started to work again, not suddenly, i started to slowly get some read-outs then after a few trips it started to work properly! OK, well, cool all sorted. This summer though i've lost it again, took it to the garage and its not the bit on the wheel. Checked another thread about a clamp being to tight on the cable and FWR (the garage) again said that this wasn't the problem. No big deal just get it fixed however it was end of day and needed the bike back so... Its recently started to do trippy stuff getting random sporadic read out i.e goes from 17mph to 134mph to 60 to 187...187!!!!! even at idle. But itll do this then go back to zero. quick flashes of readout change not constant. But this morning and last week it started to work properly again then after a few mins do more of the above, did it this morning. Any ideas, dodgey connection somewhere? anyone else had this????? I assure you i wasn't doing 187mph thats for sure! ![]() |

are you sure its not the speedo (speado is wrong on too many levels
![]() The connection in the back of the instrument cluster would be my first thing to check, closely followed by checking with a replacement unit if you have access to one. It may be that you have a knackered speedo unit. |

Yeah to guys at FWR have checked to make sure the wheel section isn't broken. so ill have a look at the instrument cluster see if i can figure it out otherwise i have a feeling as you said that it may just be knackered.

I've seen this on a few pointies - the speedo pickup has proven to be the problem, that is; the piece on the spindle from which the wire emerges, not the wiring thereof or the rotor but the sensor itself.
Exactly why/what is amiss I don't know, but having fixed a few that have shown exactly the same problem as yours I've seen the only problem part be the pickup.

I had this problem last year turned out to be a broken wire at the connector block under the tank right at the front where the snorkle of the air box sits.
I cut back the wire and reconnected it never had a problem since with my 650k3 |

i also had this after a tyre change. it was the speed sensor in the left side where the wheel meets the fork, it was just a tiny bit of plastic broken off but caused all this erraticness

Trace the wire up from he front wheel and check for nicks, twists and breaks, then make sure it's connected properly under the tank (make sure the connection is also dry). This will give you a good idea if the wire is the problem and is quick, easy and free to do!

Right , It can be the Speedo Sensor as Sid stated and you may need to swap that out . The magnetic rotor part can break up . Loose Battery connection can cause this . A pinched cable near the caliper and the Green wire under the tank on the right hand side by the airbox , have a peek under and give that wire a wiggle , those are the main culprits .
