yip i agree, i thought i was a heavy user online, out of 2 years i've had my iphone, ive only ever went over 100,000kb 3 times, and the highest ive went is 300,000kb. the new limit would be 500,000(ish) kb! i use a lot of facebook and email and surfing the net on my phone!

o2 have said that this would prob only effect about 5% of there users!

Doesn't surprise me data is expensive.

Glad mine's still free though...

Data is free. It's the infrastructure to transmit it that's expensive. Once that's in place, they can send all the data they want over it. Costs the same.

Glad I swopped to Orange on a 1200 minute/unlimited texts/unlimited data contract last year.

O2 royally hacked me off last year when they lied about sending me a new phone and when I found out they wouldn't have stock of them for another two months I told them to shove it. Best thing I ever did with regard to mobiles.

it says orange are doing the same, although I've only received 804mb of date since getting my phone in December.

O2 have made it clear that 97 per cent of their customers use less than 500Mb. I consider myself a fairly heavy user and my peak is 390Mb.

I don't understand why the media is focussing on this non-story that will affect only 3 percent of O2 customers. What about the fact that they've halved the talktime?

My 18 month contract with O2 currently costs £35 for 600 minutes. Under O2's new tariffs, for the same price and contract length I will only get 300 minutes. Also, MMS messages will no longer come out of users' bundled texts, but will be charged at 20p each.

This is a clear lesson in how to make existing, loyal customers feel as though they're being shafted.

O2 don't give a crap about customer service or their customers. I'd been a customer for six years and (without going into the lengthy story) they in short order p***ed me off so utterly that I left them.

Oh poo. I see they are blaming iPhone owners for slurping all the bandwidth - sounds about right for the swishy fingered followers of tasteless fashion
