Default Eeeeek

Had a bit of a fright today....
Doing a trackday at Lydden with my son. During the lunch break we had a bit of a rush to fit a new front tyre to my bike, and turn the back one around (Lydden is really hard on the right side and a tyre won't last the day if you don't)
Anyway we were first out after the break and I did a couple of laps to scrub in the new tyre and then came down the hill to start my third lap, went to brake for Paddock and the lever came straight back to the bar.... Had a bit of panic back brake (in fact loads and almost ended up backing it in!) and just made the corner. Limped back into the pits and found that the pad retaining pin and one of the pads had gone from the left hand caliper. It seems in our rush to get it all back together I must have caught the caliper on something and knocked the little clip out. Lesson learned, check and double check everything...twice!

It did for the GSXR. Fortunately I'd taken the Supermoto along as well so just rode that all afternoon! I'd promised my son a go on it and his Aprilia 125 went sick on him in the afternoon (probably just a plug) so we ended up sharing it for the last few sessions. He now doesn't want to ride the Aprilia any more...!

Have you discovered a new and really bloody quick line through there though?

Does it involve gardening and demolishing that old bus they use as an office?

. . . and I thought you had an invasion of mice!
As they say at Wimbledon: " New Balls, please "
And at Lydden: " New Shreddies, please. "
BTW: well held that man.

I've seen that happen before, Gixer pad retaining pin R-clips aren't the best at staying in place. I got into the habit of either lockwiring the the R-clip in place or keeping the open ends together with a very small cable tie instead of lockwire.
