Default European Headlight law...

Hey guys!

After I was told this today I was kind of insulted that I hadn't realised it before but:

I was told that I have to get something to put into the headlights of the Fazer to make them legal in France and Spain, because the headlights shine more to the left over here which would mean shining in their eyes over there...

Anybody know what I need and where I can get it?

You don't need beam adjusters or masking on a two wheeler. See The AA guide and check note 12.

If your lights have a clearly visible area which gives the dip kick-up (usually a wedge section in the reflector or lens around the 7-8 o'clock region as you look at the light) you can put some tape over it and check the beam pattern against a wall, but hardly anyone bothers IME. I usually do because it's just one less thing which might annoy someone (gendarme etc), and even if it's in the wrong place they won't know and it looks like you've made the effort.

Some projector lights can be switched from left to right dip, but those without this feature cannot successfully be masked externally.

Well I've never used anything to accomodate riding ont other side of the road over the pond.

So many people go over there with no need to change anything.
