Default Avon Vipers

Got these put on the babyblade a month ago ready for me to ride it.

They are sticky as a sticky thing in sticky land when the weather is hot, not as slippy as I thought in the wet but gave enough feedback to keep me going slow and not leaning it.

My question is, I have done 1,500 miles in the last two weeks on these tyres. They are looking great for life in the centre as the all the rubber is being well used, but anyone know what mileage I can expect to get out of these.

Also, If it's going to mean new tyres every few months, what would be a good alternative that will allow for just as much stickyness, but last a bit longer? Avon Storms?

I would recommend storms all day long.

I have storms on the SV and I like them. Got bridgestone BT015's on the shiny shiny though.

Honestly GG, the Storms give as much grip as you might need on the road. I have never got them to slip in the dry, despite much hamfisted use of the throttle. Apart from Storms all I can say is stay away from Bridgestone BT-021, they are horrible in the wet!

But you may find that mileage from the Vipers is not too bad, you have a light bike with relatively modest power so it does not ask a lot of it's tyres. With the suspension correctly set up they will track well on the road and not do little skips that chew them up. Wait and see how many miles you get from the rear before looking to change tyre type / make. Unless you just want to try other stuff of course.

Another vote for storms - more than enough grip for my 120bhp

Thanks guys. I'm loving them so far. After the lock up squaring the rear off a fair bit, it's only done 60 miles in twisties and is already rounding off again nicely which is a definite good point. Will probably try storms next as these do have a fair bit of life left, so can hopefully put the storms on at the end of the summer for better wet grip.

These are ok in the wet, but the fact that there is zero tread on the outside of the tyre does not inspire much confidence.

LP - Yes, they are surprising me so far with the wear

I had lots of fun on vipers this afternoon, can't see them lasting long, good kit though.

Comparing them to storms in same places, not worth 3x the price though.

Mine went on new for £200. That's only a knats whisker off what Storms will cost.

So...how much fun did you have Chris?

Another for the storms.
Got about 7k out of mine but dont know how a little babyblade would wear them considering its lighter and abit less power through the wheel from general riding.
