Got some 8.5's from k-tech now on order (thanks Sarah!) to fit on the curvy for the weekend - quick question - do I need to sort some spacers out (or other bits) or is it just a case of following the Haynes and a direct swop?
Cheers |

does your curvy have preload adjusters ? if not you will need to make a few sets of spacers to get the sag right

Er not sure...! Its completely stock so I'm guessing not (its a curvy S if thats any help?!)...
Any ideas what I need spacer wise and size or is it a case of measuring up once on the bike? |

what year k1/2 ?
and start with the stock spacer and if it sags to much then increase the size of the spacer (use tube from B&Q) if there is little or no sag then use a smaller spacer. im not 100% on this but if its sagging 50mm with the stock spacer i think you just need to add 25mm to the size of the spacer to get to 25mm sag but as i said im not 100% on that and it might work in a different way |

It largely depends on the length of spring you've ordered. I threw some Ohlins into my curvey a month or two back, as they were linear springs they were about 2/3 of the length of the original springs so I had to use a spacer.
Obviously you can modify the sag by using different length spacers to match your own weight, but to begin with it'll probably be easiest to just compare the lengths of the new and old springs and just knock up a spacer to re-create the original spring length. IIRC my spacers were about 60 (ish) mm, but dont quote me on that. Hope that helps. |

Its a 2000 curvy....
Ah ok - its making more sense now - I think the way forward is comparing old to new then taking it from there - knocking up a spacer if different/required. Thanks for the advice - as always spot on and easy to follow - gotta love this forum. |

my k-tech linear springs were the same length as the stock ones but that was for my k3
and 2000 doesn't have preload adjuster |

The K-tech 0.85 springs in my SK1 were a direct replacement, std spacers used.

^ that my be so, but doesn't mean you should use them unless of cause you are getting the correct sag with them
