Default Festival Stewarding

Got an opportunity to steward at V Festival next month, for which i have a little interview tomorrow.

I get paid to steward, whatever it involves, then can watch the music in the rest of my time.

Anyone have any experience of stewarding these sort of events? Any tips or interesting stories of crowd heroics...?

Its an easy gig, generally wandering around with a radio, making sure site bins have bin bags, that toilets have toilet rolls in them. It can be long days but generally it isnt doing a whole lot of anything, just making sure that no trouble happens, if it does then normally you dont get involved you call site security.

You are normally given a patch of the site to be your area, and you just make sure that the site doesnt become to messy, that the traders have everything they need etc etc.

They normally give training of how to use radios, and a bit of first aid too if you dont already have it. Also there will be site security procedures that they will go through with you.

I worked both V Festivals last year, not as a steward but can honestly say that when you are working/sober a festival is a god awful place to be and wouldn't wish it upon anybody.
I had to leave the backstage bit of one stage and head to the backstage bit of another but through the crowd. It felt like I have just walked into and crowd of zombie/post apocolyptic people....who were trying to to their girlfriends dignity with a small T-Shirt as she took a dump next to a fence in the middle of the day on a main walkway.

Oh and if you are a steward, if there are more of them than you...do not intervene. Seen some daft stuff.
