Default MP3 players - Cowon?

Maybe one for Soulkiss

I'm looking for a new MP3 player but it's got to work with iTunes as the missus has an iPod. Fancy something different rather than just getting an iPod so I've been looking at the Cowon S9, any comments on it or anything else?

Don't want to spend much more than £120ish.

S9 is great, used one all weekend at the AR (didnt need to re-charge it - the battery lasts for ages).

The only thing that talks iTunes is Apple rubbish - its all part of the Vendor Lock In rubbish they do.

The nice thing about the S9 is you just plug it in and drag what you want onto it - no hassle with syncing etc or needing software installed.

I believe the software that comes with it would be able to convert any non DRM ITunes files as you copy them on - tho it will obviously take longer than a straight file transfer would.

Any more questions - just ask, both my wife and I both have 16GB S9s

it's lovely to see someone steering away from the locked-down and overly controlled i-pish.

I may have bad news I like the way iPods just sync when you plug them in and organise all the tracks into albums etc. Soooo...will the S9 do the same and how easy is it to put iTune tracks onto the S9 as I already have a shed load of them?

I like how easy the iPod is to sync/download tracks etc but as I'm a bit of a geek I like the S9

S9 doesnt need to synch - plug it in, use the explorer and drag and drop. Im not as tekkie as SK, so I love it. And the battery does seem to last a lot longer than any other mp3 player Ive come across. What I dont know is how to convert iTune music to standard music files - but once you do that, its just a case of drag-n-drop.

Another vote for the S9 here - drag and drop is a major plus, and as vixis mentioned the battery lasts ages. It's also played pretty much every divx / xvid file I've thrown at it so far, so no fannying about converting video files.

Not sure about files in iTunes format though, I've not got any...
