hi all, i have a question regarding the rear tail lights of a bike i may be buying soon.
basicaly the 2 rear brake lights (2 strips) have the indicator inclued in them. so there is no indevidual indecators. here is the link to ebay, if you look at the picture of the rear lights you will se there is no indicators. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT so is this legal and would it pass the mot? thanks jourdain |

It is illegal as there has to be a a certain amount of space inbetween the lights. Thus I assume it won't pass an MOT.

They're also damn near impossible to see - even if you know they are there & are looking for them !!
I wouldn't let the fact that they are fitted stop you buying the bike - just disconnect the indicator part of them and fit some decent aftermarket 'proper' ones.

I put the exact same thing on my SV. Basically the rear light flashes on and off with the indicators.
It was a mod that I was fully aware was illegal but never got pulled for it. The downside was that they were harder to see and as a result I had to make right turns more obvious by shoulder checks and sometimes a hand signal. |

Buy some you like, if they are LED's you will probably have to buy a resistor because they can flash too fast and a good idea to buy the suzuki connectors so you don't have to mess about with cutting and rewiring. Once you got that lot its just a matter of reconnecting it all and thats pretty easy. I'm a bit girlie when it comes to things like that but I did my GSXR ones fine on my own.

I had some when I had my SV. You could hardly see the indicator light, so ended up using it as just a clear brake light and connecting the indy wires to some micro indicators.
Easily done, as the brake light wire is seperate to the indy wires (obv!) :P |

surely if you were braking and indicating at the same time wouldn't see the indicators??

these things are truely rubbish, they are nowhere near as bright as the OEM brake lights, come with rubbish wiring, the one i saw the leds were not even all the same brightness. The turn signals are too close together and you can only really see them within about 2 car lengths of the bike. tbh completely unsafe id say, no way someone behind you would know your braking or turning on a sunny day
