Default How good are these bikes!

I can't believe its taken me so long to find this out. I've ridden and raced a few different bikes over the years and I love my time on track, I really, really do.

But today, despite a few mishaps with leaking water and broken gearshifts, I had an absolute ball on my first time out on a mintwin. Its such a good bike to ride on track, I could hardly see for grinning so much.

OK, so realistically, when the throttle cable finally snapped (perhaps I was wringing its neck) and I had to jump on a GSXR750 K7 that happened to be available, then I realized how brilliant a late model japanese 4 cylinder sports bike can be but I am certain I was quicker on the little SV.

And I had a bigger smile, definately. I can't wait to race this thing now.

Have raced them two seasons now. When the SV minitwins supported BSB at Cadwell this year the morning crowd enjoyed some really excellent, close and competitive racing. Over heard one spectator ask: 'jesus, what class is this?' !! ha ha

I was there that day and it certainly was a good show. With a bit of luck I'll be part of it next year

Thats good news. It seems we may be back with BSB again next year so imagine that! What bike are you intending to run? Our 2004 K3 has lasted well for two seasons but recently lost 3rd gear due to some uncoordinated clutchless shifting. This followed an engine refresh which boosted whole range power so another strip down entailed and just when you think you've had enough of bad luck it all came right at Brands. Let us know if you have any probs, happy to help out - have probably come across most issues in our time

I'm not sure if I'll manage to get out on track this year now. I may be able to do the Dave Holland Festival at Cadwell Park on the 2nd October, if all goes well. I think Mr Gelder may be along for that one too - eh, Richie?

But then I'll make sure to plan next years diary to fit as much racing in as possible - can't wait And to race at the BSB meeting must be fantastic.

I've got a 2000 curvy that I bought about 6 weeks ago, only ridden the once still but once I get the time to sort it out I'll be grinning like an idiot again as I throw it around a track.

Thats cool mate. There are plenty of carby bikes in the paddock with good results posted throughout the year. Cheap and very competitive racing with lots of expertise to help you out.
Our last outing is at Snetterton next week so busy prepping the bike (and rider)

Thanks Pete! Was really pleased overall and the race win was really good. Dan and Jordan gave as good as they got and it was great breaking lap records along the way! The 2nd race was really frustrating as the rear tyre was slowly deflating due to a faulty tyre valve (who ever has that?) I went from 3rd on the start grid down to 6th after a crap start then up to 3rd again then back down to 7th at the finish on a tyre with 10psi left in it! Still managing 1. 16's though
You still on for next season? Series is looking as popular as ever and the racing has been close and great fun..............

Yep, all things being equal I'll be out there next year. I missed most of this one due to the Cadwell incident so I'll be trying to get fit and ready over the winter, I'm hoping to get strong enough for a track day before the end of the year but the recovery from the operation is slow.
