I'm toying with the idea of getting some lower fairings for my bike, and just wondered what your thoughts are on this? I use my bike every day for commuting as well as the odd weekend blast. Would the additional fairing provide any extra protection - to either me or the bike - from the elements?
This is my bike: Thanks for your advice. |

And I found that there was a drop in wind buffeting around my legs, which also helps keep a reasonable amount of rain off too. It's just a question of finding them in good condition, or forking out top money for a new set. Last edited by svrich; 05-04-13 at 08:06 PM. |

I've got half a set; as soon as I've tracked down a left-hand side one I'm fitting them!

It's an easy fit. Just make sure you're over a soft surface so they don't get scratched. It's just a case of removing a few bolts, fitting the bracket and refittinf the bolt. It is a bit fiddily getting the brackets lined up though so you wont want to fully tighten them before test fitting the plastics.

Cheers for that.
I have crash bungs on at the moment - I assume they'll have the come off before fairings can go on? I think I might buy them new today. Saves the hassle with spraying or buying something that might be in a bit of a dodgy condition or missing a bolt. Also means my bike will look immense for the WCAR on 03/10 ![]() |

Depends what bungs, Some dont work with the lower fairings as the bungs get in the way of the fairing.
You might find you either have to modify the lower fairing slightly or get a different set of bungs, have a search and you'll find plenty of info.

The bungs are huge sticky out things so I wouldn't have thought they'll fit. I'm happy to just get new ones though. Or even better, I just won't drop the bike and save myself the pennies.....!
Anybody got any thoughts on Skidmarx fairings? M&P can do them for £105 in red so sounds like a decent option. |
