Default K3 Front Discs Dilemma.

Evening all,

Can somebody please tell me if there was a crossover period of the early K3 SV650`s????? Reason I ask is I sold a guy a set of discs that came of a set of wheels that were on a crash damaged K3 race bike I had. He claims the discs have a recessed mounting bell whereas the later ones (K4+) are completely flat. Anyone shed any light on this please?? Did some early K3s carry K1 and K2 wheels and discs??

No, the Pointy, (K3 on), bikes all have the same wheel and disc fitting, which is different to the Curvy, (99-02).

A Curvy wheel can be fitted to the Pointy front end - but is not a straight swap; suitable spacers are needed.
The forks and calipers are dimensionally identical so the Curvy's discs will fit in the Pointy's calipers and vice versa, so yes, it is possible someone was using a Curvy wheel in a Pointy.
Curvy wheels have oval section spokes, Pointy wheels have diamond section spokes.

I have an early K3 and this is my front wheel. Do note the Flat disks and oval spokes.

Hope that this helps.

It was possible that they were curvy wheels fitted to the injected race bike. Alot of minitwinners over here use that conversion as the wheels were cheaper.

Try looking in : http://www.pieces-suz.com
There seem to be several different versions of the parts lists depending on frame number.
Enter your frame number and see what happens!
Best of luck.
