Talking Self servicing, what to check?

So, I now have my oil & filter and I'm also going to be adjusting my clutch as the bite point is very far out, cleaning my chain and sprockets as no doubt there's a load of gunk accumilated, checking my tps (but I did it about a month ago so I somehow doubt it'll need adjusting again?) and I'm considering giving the brakes a good clean if mr haynes turns up for sunday (which it should). I'm leaving the brake lines alone for now until october/november when i have a bit of cash to get some braided ones.

Anything else you can suggest? I've read that my spark plugs should be good as this is only the 7.5k service I'm doing, and it's also the first time I've done anything like this to anything! My limit of experience so far is fitting my tail tidy, tps adjustment and putting on my new exhaust - before that my extent of such things was a total of 0.

Also just got some autosol and acf50 to clean up my grotty looking downpipe after the EAR

Brakes, a MUST on SV/Bandit type suzukis!!! I've jsut given mine their annual clean.

the pistons get extremly gurbby. Get the calipers off, pads out, and slowly push the front brake lever till they are out quite a way (Not too far or you'll pop them out causing you more work).

Bit of wet rag, or for harder stuff a bit of wet n dry. Clean the pistons well, and re-inserst.

MAIN TIP!!!!!!!!

GREASE!!! Copper grease every single bolt before putting it back in. Suzuki use poor quality material, and no grase means rusted bolts trapped in, causing you an utter nightmare later on. grease grease grease, and lots of it. Might look grubby, but you can clean the excess off after.

One more thing.

Grease!!!!

Oh and one thing, pulling the brakes whilst they're off... will you just be able to push the pistons back in once they're cleaned?

Yes, but you'll need an old brake pad to lever them back, or similar. Leave it between the pads when you squeeze the lever to push the pistons out. Then once you've cleaned the pistons, lever bthem back into position

Take out the front plug and copperslip the threads, as the front is prone to seize if water gets in there

Yeah as said, use the pads to push the pistons back in. But being cleaned up they should slide in ok.

If you push them out to far and they pop out, make sure you clean any debris from the rubber seal as well.

rule of the thumb I go by on any bike though, if you take a bolt out, grease it up before it goes back in.

the rear caliper as well!

Prepare for siezed bolts and pins, or buy a refurb'ed one from fleabay*

*as a just-in-case of it screwing up
