An old topic and I'm not sure how many are still playing this.
I dropped playing the game for a while because I found it difficult and frustrating, but a few weeks ago I chucked it on again and made real progress and started really upping my skills. Most driver assists are now off- left with braking lines, auto transmission and medium opponent difficulty. I occasionally use traction control as some cars are nigh on uncontrollable without (upgraded TVRs and R1 class cars come to mind). I haven't gone online playing it, because my connection doesn't seem to like it (either lose games or update is sketchy- haven't looked into setting the homehub up to deal with this). So- some questions. Who else still plays this? There was a bit of a league going on some time ago. Does anyone else really think the New York track is awful- barely visible edges to the chicanes and just generally not fun? At least I'm coming to grips with Sedona now... Can anyone actually win an R1 race without traction control? It does seem a mite challenging (though only tried my first races with that class last night). Also- realistic tyre and damage. Does this mean tyres wear in long races (most laps I've got to yet is about 8 or 9- at driver level 4 ![]() Overall- I really have increased my enjoyment of the game. I've also learned a lot about tuning and racing lines (and braking!)- it's really interesting that two completely poles apart cars (ie Fiat 500 and Ferarri FXX) generally need to take the same line- even with wildly different speeds, due to the other car characteristics (grip, aero etc). Now- if only I could afford the steering wheel, the experience would be complete. And F1 2010... And maybe two other x-boxes and screens for the linked up view ![]() |

I played it last night and the previous one also.
Never really been my thing, but I was bored and had nothing else to do. I've always been a PGR4 guy. Brilliant fun on live with bikes and cars racing together. |

I never got into bikes in race games- just couldn't get the hang of it.
I will say this though- long races do test the concentration. I just don't know how the pros can do it! |

I've been playing it for a few months now, a couple of hours when I get a chance at the tv. Like you, can't control the R1s w/o TC especially in 1st gear. I'm not even sure is possible with the standard controller. I do play with manual transmission and on hard difficulty however and that leaves very little, if any, room for error.
I must admit that I use the rewind function on long races and I thank developers for that. Without it, I would have abandoned it a long time ago ![]() I love the NY track especially on R1 cars because everything is so tight, you either have a great way through or end up in disaster. |

Nar- won't swayed. The NY track sucks!
I quite like the really twisty tracks though- hated Amalfi for a bit- but not when I got the hang of it! Great for learning to set the car up for cornering. |

It's really unrealistic. Which doesn't usually bother me, but a game should either be a fun game that you don't take seriously, or a proper driving simulation game that is really accurate.
You go in to an average corner at 60mph and it just under-steers right off the track ![]() |

I really wish they had more tracks. It becomes boring after a while.
Nurburgring must be the best track for me, especially in split screen multiplayer. With a great opponent it can get very tense. Sometimes I need serious time to recover after a race with my brother-in-law lol The car I like the most must be the Diesel (I know) R1 BMW. I won most of the races with it and handles really well on Nurburgring. |

I don't know your skill level with car simulators but for me, Forza 3 has enough difficulty settings to fight for every race. |
