Question Aftermarket shock + battery question

Hi guys, last summer I fitted the ZXR shock to my sv, at the time I thought it would be fine to simply lay the battery on its side. However with the recent cold weather the bike has been difficult to crank over, so whilst fitting the optimate charging lead i noticed that there the battery has been on its side it has caused a slight crack from resting on the gas chamber.

Now i figure if im going to buy a new battery I want to overcome this problem at the same time. Would it be possible for you guys let me know what batteries are small enough to fit in the remaining gaps and or what extent you have modified the under-tray in order to fit a battery. If you have pictures or diagrams that would be a massive help.

Many thanks guys,

Ash.

one way would to be make a hanger from a length of flat strap bent into shape and rivited to the sub frame.

If my memory serves me I'm sure someone used a 500cc battery from a enduro bike when they did a GSXR swap

Edit: Here is the one i'm thinking of and its a kawa shock swap

So the battery would essentially be jutting out from the undertray?? Are there no issues with wheel clearance?

I was looking at these the other day and wondering....

I've no idea if they're practical for road use but they sure are small (and much more expensive).

Hey up Ash.
I used the battery off my CB500 Track Bike & had no issues with it for over 12 months. I did have to take the rubber gromlings out of the bottom of the seat, but again, no problems at all

Berlin just fitted one of these high capacity batteries (Varta YTX7L-BS ) which may be what you need
