I do not see the problem.

When I worked at Shajiao (About 50 miles up the Perl river from Hong Kong) I was a regular visitor at the meat market. Most small stuff being sold fresh had its fur or feathers. some even barked and purred.

I did work in Taiwan with Koreans civil engineers, they had a pet dog called sandwich just to wind up the guilos. When you go into a seafood restaurant, you pick your grupa from the tank. that way you look for what you think is healthy. Although we did discover cholera once traced to a fish tank.

it is a different place, a different culture and different standards, if you do not like it. don't go to China.

However, I don't see many people wanting to snack on a live crab on the middle of a busy errand...

When I was working in Taiwan, the bar we used near to our digs in Hualien had a couple of big concrete tanks just outside the toilets filled with massive shrimps. One of my colleagues would usually grab a couple on the way back from the loo.

He would spend a couple of minutes playing with them letting them crawl up his arms, on the table then snap their heads off rip off the shell and eat them raw. Again so long as you are happy they are clean (as in not going to kill you) nothing wrong with fresh protein. Not much different to the crabs.

Then again it depends what sort of crabs. Some you just do not want.

Hey, who'd pay to get crabs

Most French supermarkets have a tank on the fish counter where you can select your crab. I always feel sorry for the poor things, knowing what fate awaits them

In China and similar, There is enough food though, they dont need to eat fooking everything that has a heartbeat.
Barbaric imo, with no value on any animals life, left to them this world would find a huge number of animals extinct.
Id rather eat my own sh1te than go there and witness it.
