I'm in need of some jeans - which is more difficult than you may first imagine. This is because I am stuck in an 80's rock timewarp.
![]() No joy locally, but I am off upto central Manchester for a day in a week or so. Any decent denim shops I should look into while I am there? Not fussed about high street names (we actualy have those in Stoke!), but the independants. Remember those? They used to have shelves with jeans folded up in stacks. Proper shops - not like chuffing Primarni or TK Maxx. Online isn't an option, because I can't be bothered sending stuff back - and I will definately have to order multiple sizes to get some that fit judging by my experience this weekend. So Mancunian orgers - what can you recommend? |

TX Maxx is evil. All the jeans on one rail and take your pick. Style and sizes all mixed up. Not good for those of us short on patience with shopping!
I'll take a look in the Levi's shop - 519's look about the best choice. |

All Saints on Market St is pretty good, as is H&M and / or Next - we have the biggest Next in the country IIRC.
Also try the Triangle shopping centre and Selfridges, very good for designer stuff, as is Kendals on Deansgate (head downstairs to the Men's department and then through the tunnel, lots of cool stuff in there). If you want something a little more vintage or alternative, head to Oldham St and the northern quarter. There's a few vintage & independent designer shops etc and there's also Afflecks Palace - you really shouldn't miss Afflecks cos there's all sorts in there. If you want anything vaguely skater-ish there's a great shop called Note on the opposite corner from the entrance to Afflecks - I've got a couple of nice pairs of jeans from there.
