Default Venhill quick action throttle fitting questions.

Has anyone fitted a Venhill quick action throttle to an sv650s? I have an 06 model race bike and have ordered the universal, single cable quick action throttle from Venhill. I have removed the airbox but it is still very tight for space to get at the cable connections at the carb end. Does anyone know if its possible to fit the cable like this or do the carbs have to come out? Looking at the manual, its a beast of a job to get the carbs off (lots of sensors and whatnot) so I don't really want to do this unless I have to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I fitted mine without taking anything major off (I think I lifted the tank and airbox off but that was about it) - it was a bit of a faff messing around with long nose pliers, etc. but it all seemed to fit ok. I had to remove the switch gear from the right clip on to get the throttle assembly on properly - if you've not done that then I could se the cables not reaching...

Thanks Dave. I was planning on moving the start/kill button onto the left bar. I notice you say 'cables' in your post, does your QA throttle have 2 cables? The one I have on order is a single cable jobby but I'm sure I've seen one fitted with a single cable in the paddock at Aintree. I shall give it a go when the thing arrives and the garage warms up a bit!

It lowers the amount you need to twist the throttle tube for a given amount of throttle eg. a standard throttle (tube) you might have to twist 90 degrees for 100% throttle (until you hit the stop) but a quick action one might only need you to twist it 75 degrees.

Some people swear by them improving their riding experience.

Ahh okay, thanks monkey. You are answering all my noob questions : )
My aerox could twist about 3cm for full throttle (58mph).
CBF could go as far as the SV though.

Hi thmjo1, mine's only got the one cable. Good bit of kit and never had any problems with it. Have crashed it a fair few times too and venhill are really good at sending out replacement parts quickly.

"Some people swear by them improving their riding experience."

They're useful on racebikes as it stops you either having to let go and retwist the throttle or hold your arm and wrist down and at a weird angle to get and hold full throttle.
