Default Bike won't start - battery completely dead?

When I turn the ignition on, the bike won't start and even the dash/lights don't come on. I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this?

Background -

A few weeks ago, I had problems starting my bike (SV650S, 55 plate) which I thought were due to the cold weather. I charged the battery and it started fine, but then it died again a few weeks later (it had not had any use in the meantime as I was away over Christmas, it had literally just sat on the driveway). This time when I turned the ignition on it was completely dead - no reaction as all. I assumed it was the battery again and I replaced this. However, still no reaction from the bike at all.

Things I've checked -

I've connected the +ve/-ve terminals of the battery correctly (!)
I charged the new battery fully before I installed it, and was careful to follow instructions about not letting leads touch the frame etc.
The multiplug connector is definitely plugged in properly to the (solenoid? under the white cover)
The main fuse has not blown

I do have a (extremely annoying) datatool alarm system/immobiliser which has not liked the battery being removed at all - could it be something to do with this?

Assuming the bike will need to go to the garage but thought it was worth asking on here for suggestions anyway ...

My immobilser did create a fault on the curvy but it just prevented the starter turning it didnt cut all power from the iginition as you describe.

When you charged the battery, did it show full charge etc after? maybe that the bat you've bought is a dud.
Test the battery ensure its working correctly is about all I can suggest, without power you're pretty limited on what you can test.

Sometimes if you do not disable the alarm when removing the battery it can blow the fuse. Check your fuses.

I too have a Datatool alarm and it says to disable before removing battery in the instructions for my one.

Hope that helps.

That was my thoughts. Could have blown a fuse in the alarm/immobiliser if it wasnt disconnected propperly from the battery?

Might be worth checking the reg/rec out.
If you mesure the voltage on the battery with the terminals on, then mesure it again with the terminals off, do you see a big jump in the readings?
