If I was in a position to help a friend out with a bit of a perk then I would.

In my defense I don't 100% understand what you are asking???

You don't have to know an MD, just the right person. Our development 'director' is always promising new features to customers when on site visits, with no idea if it is possible or cost effective. Guess who then has to make good on her promises?

No it is not right, but that is the way of the world.

Sounds very familiar. If I had a pound for every time I've had to make good on someone else's promise to a customer I could have retired a wee while back.

As LP says, it's the way of the world.

I think you and I must have worked for the same boss at some point.

I've negotiated with suppliers before for free upgrades on a product, but thats more when the supplier have screwed up or over promised something in the first place...

Told our boss to tell the customer to put aluminium foil between two electrical devices to cut down on interference, then told him we were only joking and that the 2 items of eqpt weren't compatible and not to sell them together.

Customer walks in, and our boss says yes you can have these and we'll sort out the interference with some ali foil.

God save us from paperclip counters
