Hello,
Im going to France in May on the SV and wondered if anyone had any tips/advice concering general touring or riding in France. I did Ireland in August with a topbox, tank bag and throw over panniers. Im looking at buying a new set of throw overs as my girl friend was originally coming too and I was going to buy my dads hard givi panniers and sold the soft throw overs to a mate, but now she isn't and I'm looking for new throw overs. What are your thoughts on luggage, ie whats a decent setup? Ill need enough space for gear for just over a week. Rob |

Hard luggage is the best imo, safe, easy to use, less faffing around etc etc.

Oxford tankbag, tailpack and sports panniers for me. Used them every time I've been to France touring for the last 6 or 7 years. Used to use them on the 400 gixer and use them now on the SV. They carry everything I need to take for a couple of weeks away including sleeping bag and self inflating insulation mat.

Do what a bloke did at my local tyre fitters. He and his mates rode through France and stayed overnight in Formula 1 hotels. Saves taking loads of luggage and you can enjoy the back roads more.
He did it on his GSXR750, couple of t shirts, pants, toothbrush, you get the picture Plus you get a bed to sleep in every night, and a shower and breakfast every morning. The're much better than the Formula 1's over here, clean & tidy, and cheap
