Cheltenham is in the Southwest but it counts right as the top of it. I know as I lived there the last 3 years studying at the University.

Animation and Interactive Media at Pittville. I will ride up at some point to say goodbye to the Campus and take the bike out to Cleeve hill and do that loop as I reckon it'd be lovely!

Ah cool man, yea some nice roads around the area! Where you from then? Im from Fyfield! Near Marlborough! Found out only today a nice route instead of that boring duel from Swindon to Chelts! Was a lovely ride up today!

I know I used to drive my car around to escape the stress of Uni, found some corkers of windy roads. I used to love taking the long way round when going to chelters though and coming in one of its many B/Single A roads.

FRESH MEAT!
Sorry, only just noticed. 'Nother 'nam person here (currently Prestbury, moving to Leckhampton in next few weeks). Top roads round here - Fish Hill - head toward Evesham on the A-something - but PLEASE, go VERY VERY FECKIN SLOW the first time up. MUCH slower than you think you'll need on the approach, it's a fantastic road but if you get it wrong you will die. It's not a "if you get it wrong you'll come off" road, it's a "if you get it wrong you will die" road. Next top road, albeit very short, is the A40 out of Chelt toward Oxford, there's a lovely bit where it opens to a dual carriageway followed by a recently resurfaced left-right-left that is as nice going up as going down (bit bumpier going up, can shake the head a bit). Next top road, the A435 from Chelt to Ciren, lots of bendy sweepies; downsides are blind corners, largely 50 limit and a lot of those 50 limits are for very good reasons. Oh and pheasants. Suicidal little feathery barstewards. Anyway, my bikes are largely knackered at mo, but welcome. |
