Default Matt number colours

Has anybody been pulled up in scrutineering for not having matt black numbers on a matt yellow background (in the minitwins class) as specified by the ACU? Just had the final instructions through for Oulton with the Wirral 100 and this bit of the instructions has been highlighted in bold as if its important. Actually quite hard to source matt yellow paint so this could be a pain if they start insisting on it.

yep, I've raced with them for 10 years. Lately things have become a little anal with regard to numbers. For the painted background I used Ford Daytona Yellow from Halfords, did the job perfectly. Dont spray gloss lacquer over it though

Also, check this thread on Wirral 100 forum;

They specify Matt paint as gloss can emitt a glow or shine in bright sunlight making the numbers hard to read. If you cant find any matt paint as a last resort some fine teak varnish brushed over will dull the paint slightly.

1200 grade wet and dry over the yellow will make it matte in 2 minutes. if you go over the edges (which you shouldn't, its quite easy to sand) maks off the yellow and clear laquer the offending bits.

I got an aerosol made up of matt yellow, the color code is in the ACU Manual. Our scruts are getting fairly strict on both the matt colors and the styles of the numbers, must be per ACU regs. I had to change my'n before the first meeting after asking for a pre scrutineer check before first race day, glad I did now!

I hope the ACU are a rigorous when MotoGP, Superbikes and BSB come to town.

Somehow I doubt it. if I ever get to be number one I want a number that looks like a kn@b, like Lorenzo's!
