Default restricted ecu question

i am looking for a restricted ecu for my 2005. it has the inlet blades and throttle stop currently fitted but it dosent seem to be running right at all, just feels rough and there is a very strong smell of petrol when it runs.

i heard that the ecu fixes this problem? now as my bike is a 2005, will i need a 2005 ecu? or will any single plug ecu fit? ie 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006?! are they all the same part numbers? as long as its a single plug will it make a difference?

If this works for you I may also be interested if anyone has a second one out there. It's for a K4.

A quick google search shows that the ECU is the same for bikes from 2003 up to 2006. However, this is just Google, so check with your dealer first before buying on E-Bay if you are worried.

I took the throttle stop and washers off of a restricted bike a while back because they are awful. Running a restricted ECU is the way to go and my own bike runs one too, so I know that they work nicely with out ruining your fun. I have a year to go until mine is out and for sale!

With the ECU they do lose top end power and getting the engine past 8K takes some doing, but it is much better than turning your bike into an asthmatic lump. Down hill with the wind behind you you can still get enough over the tonne to be instantly banned!
