I was queueing behind a lady today, whom remained stationary after it was her turn to go, so i thought i'd alert her with my horn. To my utter horror and embarrassment, i could not produce a horn. I had to resort to simply flashing at her instead.
Upon closer inspection at home it appears i can produce a very little horn, but nothing that anybody would notice. I feel wholly inadequate. Is there a common cause for this? What can i do to rectify this? Any help in getting back my thunderous horn will be greatly appreciated. |

the OE horn sounds daft but should make a decent noise. perhaps you've got a poor/corroded connection that needs looked at. are all the other electrics working fine?
i binned the OE horn and stuck a car horn on it instead, much louder. some folks stick two horns on with a relay, i think TSM has done some posts on how to do this. |

mine does this sometimes :/
will any car horn do? and can it just be wired in or would you need a different relay? |

What is an easy replacement for the rather sh1te standard horn, without fitting a fog horn thing?

Your horn is located too close to your hot parts, it gets hot too, and when that happens it stops functioning properly. You need to perform a little operation to move your horn further away from your hot parts, or you need to have your horn replaced altogether with an upgraded model. It's a very common fault within your gene pool.

you can your horn back by cleaning the bits that give it some life. I recommend removing the contacts out of its shrouding* and giving it a gentle buff with a scotchbrite.....and it'll spring back to life!
*I'm going on the thinking its the same as the curvy one and has a spade connector sat in a plastic thing, somewhere inbetween the front forks.

Well, I've found quite the opposite, 'tis a bugger to get my horn to work when it's cold, and it must be an optical illusion, but it appears to get smaller too ![]() *though I've heard this is more to do with the aspect, I'll try one of those fancy mirrors next time ![]() |
