Unhappy Anyone know how to fix xbox's?

I'm trying to avoid just buying a brand new xbox to replace my broken one because I can't really afford it just now.

It has had the 2 red ring problem for a while. It has been fixed by a game repair shop a few times, but after a few weeks it just overheated again and had to go back in to get fixed on the repair warranty.

I got sick of taking it back to the shop so I gave it a go myself and took off both the heatsinks, cleaned off all the old thermal paste, put new stuff on, replaced the X clamps with bolts and washers and put it all back together. I let it overheat without the fans as shown in the instructional videos on youtube. Started it up and it worked for like 10 minutes before overheating again. I also tried it without the overheat method but it still didn't work for more than 10 minutes.

I've tried running it open case. I've tried doing the fan surround mods with bits of cardboard and tape.

What else can I try before I smash it into little pieces?

Not much more you can do mate. New thermal paste and x clamp is as good as it gets really. If it aint been modded you will get reasonable money for your dvd drive. You dont need anything other than the console itself so buy the sore version and sell on the controller too.

If its a newer HDMI model there is a naughty way of getting a new one

Just turned it on again and now it's got one red light instead of two and it's got an E74 error code.

2 lights is just an overheating status, E74 is the GPU error, solder has run and contacts not made, wrapping it in a towel and leaving on till you get 2 lights again then leave to cool for 20 minutes and you may get a bit more life from it.
