Just started my long awaited brake system upgrade this evening
Wheels off, discs off, disc seating area cleaned and my first galfer disc is on. However, the new ones seem to be about 10mm bigger than the stocks. I know the contoured discs give better cooling thus better performance, but surely these contours need to be within the standard disc size to fit in my callipers? This is my first time changing the brakes over so, if this is a rookie question, please be gentle. I ordered my galfer's through the sportsbikeshop as it's local and the service is the best I've seen anywhere to be honest, but I did notice after I picked up my new discs and pads, the front discs are labelled for an SV1000 k3 onwards and the rear is labelled for a GSXR 600 2000 onwards. I didn't think anything to it though, because I just assumed that they would fit if thats what I was given. New disk on: ![]() Size difference: ![]() Do I need to take these back to the shop? |

Easy question, do you think you can move the brake calipers out?
No? They've sent you the wrong ones, the outer edge of the disc should be the same as the originals They look nice though ![]()

Gutted for you mate . Look awesome though
![]() Where are they from? Take them back and emphasize that you've been waiting a long time for them yet they've clearly sent you the wrong 'ens. You never know you might get some money off or some other bits as a good will gesture ![]() |

I think I could actually cry right now...
![]() I'm gonna be hanging around outside the shop at opening time tomorrow morning. I got the discs and pads from sportsbikeshop.co.uk. It's a local company, the guys there are good and I'm sure they'll be more than understanding and I'll be back on here to update once I get back home. |
